An acne diet is a very interesting idea. Most importantly, who hasn't heard that eating chocolate gives you zits? I believe we all have. If you think about it its not so far-fetched that by watching your diet you could prevent acne.
But, an acne diet is a very hard thing to establish. It is highly personal and based on your body’s unique responses to food. There are rules to follow, but progress is usually by trial and error. Monitor your skin closely. Keep a journal. You could keep a photo journal. When your skin clears, continue on the diet you were on at the time.
The following are some easy guidelines to help get you started on an acne diet:
* 1. Increase your protein intake - Many dermatologists are under the belief that protein is connected with clearer skin. Oil production is limited from an enzyme located within protein. Oily skin has always been susceptible to breakouts.
* Stay away from carbohydrates. - Its not necessary to cut out all carbohydrates. However you should keep them around 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. For this reason common knowledge indicates that junk food causes acne. Actually it is just that junk food is high in carbs.
* Drinking green tea is very good for you - If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. Brewing the green tea is the best way to drink it. However, if you can’t stand the stuff, then natural green tea drinks will do. Green tea limits androgen production. Androgen is a hormone that will cause your skin to breakout.
* 4. Limit your salt intake - Iodine is almost always located within salt. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” Of course for some people with acne, iodine can cause big breakouts.
You must watch your diet and what you put on your face. If you have acne you are already aware of what ingredients are in your facial products. Use oil free moisturizers and organic skin care products. Products containing natural ingredients will least likely irritate your skin. Consider switching over to mineral makeup. If you want to enhance your acne diet and reduce breakouts, you may want to try mineral makeup.
