To find out how to get clear skin, you must do me one big favor. You must avoid all of the lies and half truths about acne and start listening to the real solutions. Some of the lies I want to talk about are lies about connections between diet and acne, myths about washing your skin and I'll talk a bit about why drug companies are so keen to make products that force us to keep purchasing every month.
Why don't we start off with the diet and acne connection? A lot of times if you ever mention anything about changing what you eat for how to get clear skin to a dermatologist, they'll usually say something like "It's a proven fact that there's no connection between diet and acne." They may even cite studies and their conclusions. What they don't know, or what they're not telling you is none of those studies was even close to conclusive. The most conclusive of studies done and referred to was in 1970 and went for an entire 7 days. Just think about that for a minute. How much have we learned in the past 30 years about medicine?? Also, anyone who knows anything about acne knows that breakouts can occur weeks before we even see them.
Besides that, there have been studies on the Kitavans, the Inuit and the Ache, all cultures that live outside of our own. All of their diets consisted of completely natural foods that they grew or captured themselves. How many recorded cases of acne did they have? Not one. What makes this study even more amazing is that the Inuits switched to more western style foods and were studied doing so from 1989 to 1991. Do you want to know what happened?
Acne. Acne where they never had a problem before hand. Clearly, diet plays some sort of function in the causation of acne and is a big component for how to get clear skin.
Moving along to washing your face. I just want to scream every time someone mentions this. Acne has absolutely nothing to do with your hygiene. People who don't have acne can walk around with diet covered skin and not get a single breakout. Dirt doesn't cause acne.
A few people claim things like "It's not the dirt, but you do have to take care of the excess oil on your face." Or they'll mention the "t-zone" to reinforce the idea of excess oil. Here is another myth for how to get clear skin. This is in no way beneficial for you because you're only doing your face a diservice. Obivously, washing strips the oils from the skin. Do you know what this does for you? Irritation and more breakouts.
Finally there is the biggest how to get clear skin myth of them all. The chemicals. There is a great metaphor I want to use here to explain why there are so many companies that make external products to "clear" acne. Say there's a big, dirty pond in your back yard. Every summer your back yard becomes infested with swarms of mosquitoes who love the dank and free standing water.
You could try spraying the back yard full of chemicals that will get rid of them. This method works great; all of the mosquitoes die....but then they come back in a year. OR you could just drain the pond once and never have to deal with the mosquitoes again. The drug companies are keen on making products that only deal with the symptoms of acne, such as excess oil, to much bacteria and dead skin because they want you to keep buying. They don't want a permanent cure because you'll never come back to them again. Why do you think all of their products are promoted by pretty people? They want us to feel bad enough about ourselves that we are compelled to buy their product.
Simply said, acne is something that begins inside of us. How to get clear skin has nothing to do with how much you wash or how many new products you try. None of them will work because you're only treating the symptoms and not the real causes.
How to get clear skin is not a big secret. You just need to treat the real problem
